This zine is part of a series documenting unfair (sometimes illegal) employment practices in Spain.

Events recorded in this publication happened in an Indian-Pakistani Restaurant. The staff had a religion-based hierarchy, at the top were Muslims followed by Hindus and Sikhs. Besides waitering, I was a liaison between the staff and Spaniards customers. All my coworkers were undocumented, allowing owners to exploit them under unfair working conditions.

On my last day, the place was overcrowded and we weren’t capable to provide a good service. At the end of my shift, owners threatened me, and despite being migrants too, they revealed a racist attitude towards me because I wasn’t “Desi”. They used that specific term and tried to humiliate me on grounds related to my origins. Without any notice, I quit that same day, and never talked to them again.
